Wii Zapper Link's Crossbow Training

The Wii Zapper and Link’s Crossbow Training arrives in stores on November 19th. The game features three stages, the first stage is very similar to a Duck Hunt style game. The goal is to shoot targets that fly across the screen for points. In the second stage you are Link but stationary. Enemies attack you and you retaliate. In the third stage, Link walks around taking aim at various targets.

Wired Magazine had this to say about the final stage:

The final stage I played was the most complex: you can actually walk around as Link, then aim with the Wiimote. This is where I felt the Wii Zapper controller, that thing I really don’t like very much, was just plain getting in my way. Aiming and turning the camera with the Wiimote while trying to walk forward and strafe with the analog stick should be fun, but not with the Zapper.

Wired Magazine’s response to the Wii Zapper is somewhat telling. Gamers want to feel like they are in the game but not at the expense of actually enjoying. It will be interesting to see what other gamers think of the Nintendo accessory. But for $20, its not that big of an investment anyway. So I’ll see for myself.
