Is the Wii Coming To A Gym Near You?

Could the Wii find its way into your local Crunch gym or YMCA? The Yahoo Tech blog hints that a potential trend may be emerging as Studeo 55, a trendy Vancouver gym frequented by celebrities, now offers “a 400 square-foot theatre room outfitted with a large projection screen hooked up to a Wii console [where] members are encouraged to use the Wii workout station as part of circuit training, warm-up or cool-down”.

If gyms are only going to provide access to the games you can buy from Amazon.com on your own (much cheaper than gym membership), I don’t think it’s worth it. BUT, with the addition of Wii Ware and the balance board, gyms could partner with developers to create exclusive games strictly for their members and their specific fitness goals. That could be an exciting development.
